Jura-Turas Mara Travel Exclusive Single Malt Scotch Whisky

I am so glad I picked this one at Qatar airport duty free as recommended by the salesperson. Today I am reviewing Jura Turas-Mara Travel Exclusive Single Malt Whisky. I was unaware of the term "Travel Exclusive" that means it is only available exclusively for travel customers in duty free shops at select airports. You won't find this in a local store. The fact that it is not so easy to get made it even more precious. I was skeptical at first since it has no age statement. However, I realized that it is the flavor of the whisky matching one's palette that is more important than just the higher age statement.

I highly recommend grabbing this bottle when travelling. Jura hits the mark in all angles-beautiful appearance, powerful aroma, intensely rich flavor with long, smooth and slightly smoky finish. This is pure heaven and an exclusive find, a hidden gem. There are rare occasions when I go above and beyond complementing a whisky and this is one of them. It is because a fine Single Malt deserves overwhelming appreciation.
This was my first travel exclusive whisky. Have you tried any? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers! Enjoy responsibly.  Life is a gift, use Lyft!
If you are like me who enjoys reading the package as much as drinking the liquor in it, here are some pictures of the packaging with interesting product story 😃

  1. Well, as usual I learned a couple things from this installment of the ol' SML Blog:

    1. Even though I have traveled quite a bit I had never heard of the Duty Free "Travel Exclusive". If it's one thing I like its a bottle with a story. And I don't think I've traveled internationally yet without bringing back some stories. So, its time to mix those stories with some exclusive Single Malt! I'll be looking for these exclusives the next time I'm on the move.

    2. SJ and FQ put their money where their mouth is when it comes to enjoying booze and finding their way safely home. I have actually known this about them for a while but its important so I thought I'd mention it here.

I had a gathering at my place in March for the purposes of enjoying some great company and some excellent Tequila (recently reviewed here on SML). I picked everyone up early in the evening and they all split a Lyft ride home much later that night. Nice!

  2. BA..I am sure you have traveled way more than me and have stories to tell. The travel exclusive is an eye opener for me as well. Yes you should pick up one if you get a chance.
Whenever I travel I bring some form of liquor preferably produced in the same country as a souvenir. It is like sharing a cultural experience for me. In fact I will write in my upcoming blogs about Australian spirit and Mexican tequilla along with Nepali rum I brought back from my travels.
It was an unforgettable tasting experience and many more to come for sure.

  3. It is important to have an itinerary to keep things in order, but it is much more important to enjoy your trip and have a blast. Give a little room for unexpected adventures. Angkor Wat

  4. Ahh..... I think rare is actually what people want and liked how they sell it. I wonder if I would ever come across this one but certainly worth to try if it is such exclusive

  5. I have got to say this is one of the best drams I've ever had. When ever I'm flying out the country I can't resist the temptation and find myself bring a bottle back to the UK.
