Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon

Hello Single Malters, I am excited that that I have found the best bourbon- Four Roses Small Batch. With so many strong brands like Makers Mark 46 and Woodford Reserve(also my favorites), I never had a change to taste this hidden gem. Today I am excited to unravel this beauty.

Four Roses is very popular among bourbon lovers, this small batch is more flavorful than its regular counterpart.  The distillery blends its select barrels together to create "Small Batch" whiskey which is a delicious, creamy and rich liquid that bourbon lovers admire. Kick back, relax and enjoy my tasting notes.

I wished I had tried this before, it is so delicious. It is officially my new favorite bourbon after Maker's Mark 46. The mouth feel of this bourbon is amaazinggggg. I loved it thoroughly and would recommend it to all whisky lovers. It is also a welcome change from the regular single malt that I drink as it brings in variety. Don't take my word for it, try it yourself.

Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky

Today I am reviewing Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky. I know it has a cheesy name and took me by surprise as well. This is another of my happy hour findings lol. As the saying goes "What's in a name?" so I took the liberty to try this bad boy before judging it.
This whisky honors the Macgregors- one of Scotland's oldest clans. Their renowned history dates back to the 14th century and the bottle prominently displays the Lion head's crest, the symbol of clan chief, Sir Malcom MacGregor. Alright ...enough of the culture and history, lets get to the best part - my tasting info πŸ˜ƒ

Vital Stats-
Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky
Price- $8.99 for 1 liter bottle
Age-  Not defined
ABV- 40%
Type- Blended Scotch
Distiller- Clan MacGregor Distillery
Awards Won- None, However it is happy hour approved 😜

Tasting info-
Serving glass- Shot glass
Serving style- Neat

Appearance- Light golden
Aroma- Apart from the light fruity and subtle grassy aroma couldn't identify any other aromas
Flavor-  Fruity and mellow taste
Body- Medium Bodied
Finish- Not so smooth but does linger in mouth for a brief moment

SJ's Rating- Middle Shelf
For the price point it is a suitable golden pour for the happy hour moments πŸ˜ƒ. I actually enjoyed it and is good for large parties since it doesn't break the bank. Of course you can't expect it to have complex notes like a single malt but a fairly balanced and enjoyable blended whisky..It is value for money. Have it on the rocks or with club soda as well.

Time for some drunk humor
An Irishman goes into a bar in America and orders three whiskeys. The barman asks: "Would it be better if I put all three shots in one glass?"
The Irishman replies: "No! I have two other brothers back at home, so every time I come into the pub, I order a shot for them both"
The following week, the Irishman orders just two drinks.
The barman asks "Did something happen to one of your brothers?" "Oh no", replies the Irishman. "I just decided to quit drinking". πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

CheersπŸ₯ƒπŸ₯ƒπŸ₯ƒ. Enjoy Responsibly.

Sugarlands Shine

Fellow Single Malters, it is "National Bourbon Day" today, I raise a toast celebrating water of life. Today I am reviewing Sugarlands Shine which comes in a very special jar. What was so special about it ? Apart from the cute little jar that it came in, I was also curious to find out how moonshine with flavors of hazelnut rum would taste...yum..interesting. So I grabbed this mini jar along with a few other ones  from my local store which I will be sharing in my upcoming blogs.
These mini bottles are perfect to sample before buying a big bottle especially for me since I can write about it and share it with the world πŸ˜ƒ.
If sweet is what you like then you might want to try this. Enjoy my tasting notes.

Vital Stats-
Sugarlands Shine- Mark & Digger's Hazelnut Rum
Price- $2.99 for 50ml sampler ($19.99 for 750ml bottle)
Age- No age statement
ABV-40%
Distiller - Sugarlands Distilling company,Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Awards won- None

Tasting info-
Serving glass- Glencairn Glass

Serving style- Neat
Appearance- Pale yellow, caramel
Aroma- Hazelnut, strong raw alcohol smell
Flavor- Oaky rum taste, peach, orange, sweet butter hazelnut
Body- Light bodied
Finish- Non existent. It starts and ends with sweetness

SJ's Rating- Bottom Shelf
This moonshine did not suit my taste. It is very very sweet. If you are someone who likes sugary drinks then this is for you otherwise I would steer clear from this one. I do like a hint of sweet like some bourbon but not this sweet that it overpowers any taste of the alcohol. I would imagine this would be suitable for whisky beginners and ladies as it is not harsh on the palette and easy to drink.

I'm sure you must have tried moonshine or some samplers from a mini bottle. Go ahead and share your stories.
Drink responsibly...Enjoy National Bourbon day!...Cheers πŸ₯ƒπŸ₯ƒπŸ₯ƒ

Forget ties give a real gift to dad and Pilsner Urquell beer review

Hey fellow single malters, wanted to start this blog on a different note. Since it is around the corner and I want to wish "Happy Fathers Day" to all the loving, caring and providing dads out there. I never truly understood the sacrifices my father made for me until I became a father myself of a beautiful baby girl a couple years back. I know how important it is to give a gift that your dad would really appreciate. So forget about ties, he already has too many of them. Check out some gift ideas for dad in the end.

Now its time for the regular section, today I am reviewing a beer I never tried before- Pilsner Urquell.  Luckily I have friends who are more into beer and share their knowledge with me. Both the beer and the beautiful original beer glass from Czech Republic featured in this post are gifts from them and I feel blessed.
Pilsner Urguell holds a special place in the hearts of beer lovers. Why you ask? It is called the "Model of Meter" among beers. It is the first original pilsner beer dating 1842.  All other pilsners are better or worse attempt to copy this original one brewed in Plzen, Czech Republic.

SJ's Rating- Top Shelf(Of the fridge in this case)
Pilsner Urquell poured in an ice cold beer glass can't go wrong after a long, hot day. It is the perfect summer drink to unwind and is very tempting. It is a balanced and awesome beer. The appearance is beautiful , aroma is normal however it is the unbelievably crisp and fresh taste which is the best attribute. I like how light it is yet still packed with flavor and an honorable finish. Highly recommended to everyone.

Bonus review

Brian-"An abundance of full-bodied taste for a Pilsner. I really like it. It was Docela Chutne which is Czech for Quite tasty"
I asked him the secret to the creamy creamy head of the beer. He said he poured the whole bottle without stopping and the head rose up to the top and stopped right on point. I did the same but mine looks nothing like this LoL.

Are there any Pilsner's that you have found outstanding? Be sure to share it in the comments below.
