Hello Single Malters 😃. Hope all of you are getting ready for the weekend and to make it even more enjoyable I am reviewing The Glenlivet 12-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. It is one of the quintessential whisky drink's for Scotch lovers and a very popular one. I find this whisky very similar to Glenfiddich. Both the whiskies are from Speyside region, comes in dark green bottle and somewhat confusing and similar name. Having said that, both of them are my staple whiskies and a must have for any whisky lover.
It has 40% ABV(Alcohol By Volume). I am adding this information from this blog since it is a crucial factor to determine how strong a spirit is. It simply means the percentage of alcohol in a bottle. For example 40% ABV means 40% of the contents of this bottle is alcohol and 60% is water. There is another term called Proof which is used in American bourbons. It is usually the double of ABV so 40% ABV would be 80 Proof. More on ABV and Proof in my upcoming blogs.

ReplyDeleteIt really is a good start for anyone who would like to get into Scotch.
ReplyDeleteBeen meaning to try this. Having tried Glenfiddich 12 and MacCallan 12, Glenlivet 12 will be a good comparison. Cheers, Brother!
ReplyDeleteThat is true. Glenlivet 12 is quite similar to Glenfiddich 12. Let me know how it compares.
DeleteHad to change the number of ice cubes from 2 to 3 because of the strong aroma... but certainly enjoyable as any other single malts
ReplyDeleteOh really..I drink it neat and find it quite sweet and soft. Everyone's taste is different, I have it on the rocks sometimes as well in summertime.
DeleteThis is a good one. Like someone said, "There is no such thing as a bad whisky. Some whiskies just happen to be better than others." This happens to be one of the better ones. I liked how you have explained the ABV and Proof concepts....would love to learn more in your future blogs about how Proof makes the difference.
ReplyDeleteSway..I am loving your whisky quotes..keep it up.I might in the future dedicate a blog just for powerful quotes like these.Yes you correctly pointed out that this is one of the better single malts. Proof is mostly used in USA and not as much in other parts of the world. More on that in later blogs when I do a full research on it.
