Dewar's 15 Blended Scotch

Dewar's 15 Blended Scotch is on my Middle Shelf

The first segment(Mostly not available on google search)
Occasions, tips, alternates, cocktails, food pairings, SJ's Rating, Feel.

SJ's Rating- Middle Shelf
Does not do justice for a 15-year-old. There is no oak element to this whisky and is more towards the sweet short fruity side. If you don't like oaky then it is for you.

Occasion- Movie night
SJ's Pro tip- Attractive tin case packaging makes a nice gift
Alternates- Dewar's 12 is cheaper and better tasting
Cocktail- Scotch sour
Feel- Slightly disappointed 😑
Food Pairing- Chicken tenders, momo

The second segment(Technical details that are mostly available on a google search)
I have already covered Dewar's Distillery in my previous blog Dewar's 12 blended Scotch whisky
Since it is a blend, they source their whisky majorly from Aberfeldy distillery. This particular expression, a 15-year-old, is aged twice for extra smoothness according to the label in the bottle.

Vital Stats- Dewar's 15 Blended Scotch Whisky Double Aged
Price- $47 for 750ml
Age- 15 years
ABV- 40%
Region- Scotland
Company-John Dewar & Sons Perthshire, Scotland
Awards won- Numerous. The latest is International High-Quality Trophy 2020

Tasting info-
Appearance- Medium gold
Aroma- Fruity just like Glenlivet, toffee, wow! citrus
Flavor- Creamy, spices, sweet, no oak flavor
Body- Medium
Finish- Warm, smooth but not the smoothest, medium lingering

Nikka Whisky Single Malt Miyagikyo. What does this even mean? Miyagikyo is Nikka's second distillery built in 1969 hence the name. As with Scotch, it is single malt because the contents in this bottle all come from a single distillery. The location of this distillery according to the product label is in the mountains of Sendai. It contrasts with another distillery, Yoichi established in 1934, located in the coastal area. This is less peaty compared to Yoichi.
